| Detailed description |
| Product Name |
Canavalia ensiformis agglutinin,Concanavalin A,ConA |
| Product Introduction |
Con A is a plant lectin purified from jack bean. It is a tetrameric protein consisting of four identical subunits. Con A can bind to mannose residues of various glycoproteins and stimulate lymphocytes. Concanavalin A has no blood group specificity, but it shows affinity for terminal α-D-mannosyl and α-D-glucosyl residues. Its activity requires the presence of Ca2+ and Mn2+ ions. Concanavalin A dissociates into dimers at pH 5.6 or below. It exists as a tetramer at pH between 5.8 and 7.0, and forms higher polymers when the pH is above 7.0. Depending on the degree of polymerization, concanavalin A may exhibit mitogenic activity. Succinylation can produce a stable and active dimer form. |
